Amber Smith

Amber Smith was born and raised in Oceanside, California. She attended Laurel Elementary School, Jefferson Jr. High School, Oceanside High School, and Mira Costa Community College. While attending Oceanside High School, Amber was in the Marine Corps JROTC program and earned the rank of Corporal.

Amber moved to St. Louis, Missouri where she lived for 20 years and graduated from the University of Missouri- St. Louis with a Bachelor of Science in Criminology. She went on to work at the University of Missouri-St. Louis in the Center for International Studies. She also worked at Ranken Technical College as the Registrar’s Assistant for 10 years before moving back to Oceanside, California and coming to work at the Army and Navy Academy.

In 2015, Amber was inducted into the Laurel Elementary Hall of Fame. Laurel Elementary founded their Hall of Fame in 1986 by then-Principal Bill “Wags” Wagner as an ever-present reminder to Laurel Elementary students of how education can help achieve success in one’s life. She is a member of a number of organizations including, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. and Eastern Star.

Amber is currently the Executive Assistant to the Dean of Academics and Commandant of Cadets at the Army and Navy Academy. She has worked in education for over 15 years and continues to do so because she believes that education is important and that “One person can make a difference.”
