Dr. John S. Michels is a former NFL Super Bowl champion and first-round draft pick with the Green Bay Packers. His football career was cut short by an injury that required six knee surgeries, which inspired him to pursue a career in medicine. He earned his medical degree from the University of Southern California, completed a residency in Radiology at Baylor College of Medicine, and completed a fellowship in Interventional Pain Management at UC Irvine.

Dr. Michels is a Diplomate of the American Board of Radiology and the American Board of Pain Medicine. Since relocating his practice from Newport Beach, California, to Dallas, Texas in 2016, he has won the Texas Super Doctors Award for 2017, 2018, and 2019. Dr. Michels has also been honored with the Vitals Compassionate Doctor Award, Patient’s Choice Award, is on the Healthgrades Honor Roll, and has been named one of the Best Doctors in Dallas by D Magazine. He is a member of the board of directors of the American Society of Pain and Neuroscience and is a worldrenowned expert in using minimally invasive image-guided techniques to treat acute and chronic pain conditions, including sciatica, herniated discs, arthritis, spinal stenosis, post-laminectomy syndrome, migraine headaches, peripheral neuropathy, complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS), and sports injuries.
