Cross Country

Cross Country at Army & Navy Academy is fun and challenging. Go to regular meets, set goals, and enjoy the great outdoors. At our boarding school geared for teenage boys, you will hit your peak performance. The Academy is in a prime Southern California location to go to various cross country meets. Hit the trails, practice running along our beach, or take to the hills in Carlsbad Village.

Want to run cross country at a private high school? Cross Country at Army and Navy Academy, a college prep day and boarding school for grades 7-12, is both a competitive and fun sport.

Whether you attend our day or boarding school program, you can participate in any seasonal sports of your choice. 

Scholar-Athletes: Army & Navy Academy Cross Country is proud to offer rigorous training and support. We have a strong high school cross country record of success and dedicated scholar-athletes. We are fast, fit, and fun! 

Best Places to Run in San Diego: The Cross Country team runs all over the quaint village of Carlsbad, as well as down at the beach to get ready for meets. Due to our sunny weather, you can enjoy a run almost every day of the year while attending our military academy in San Diego county. There are also amazing spots within San Diego to enjoy like Torrey Pines, Mission Beach, Sunset Cliffs, and Balboa Park. 

Cross Country Meets: San Diego County offers a competitive landscape for cross country meets with other private schools.  The mild and sunny climate in San Diego make it an ideal place to practice this sport.

Practice: Athletes can practice by running on the beach, local hills, and throughout the village of Carlsbad. They have full access to our stellar athletic facilities (Duffield Athletic Center, Maffucci Field, Bliss Stadium), that include: workout rooms, football, baseball, and soccer fields, pool, tennis and basketball courts. 

Cross Country Training 

Coaching and Mentorship: Beyond running around the village and down on the beach, you will receive coaching and mentorship from our terrific coaches. They will test you, time you, and help you push your full potential in cross country. 

Preparation for Officer Candidate Course: This sport is great preparation for the Office Candidate Course, where students engage in physical challenges to try out for top leadership positions. Check out our leadership program and contact the Admission Office to explore the challenges this program could offer you! 

College Athletic Scholarships: In addition, if you happen to have your sights set on athletic scholarships for college or university, cross country is a great sport to participate in to elevate overall health and fitness. Our students matriculate top universities, including: Columbia, Cornell, Georgetown, NYU, Stanford, UCLA, UC Berkeley, UC Davis, UCSD, UCSB, and many other top public and private universities and colleges.

West Point or Annapolis Bound? For those students who are thinking about applying to USMA, USNA, USAFA, USMMA, or USCGA. this sport will help you prepare for the rigorous physical entrance requirements. Since 1910, Army and Navy Academy has prepared young men for the mental and physical rigors needed to gain entrance to these prestigious service academies. Approximately 5-15% of our seniors apply to ROTC and/or the service academies.
