Assessment
Army and Navy Academy has three grading periods per semester, each covering five to six weeks. A final exam is given each semester. The short grading period ensures constant tracking of student learning.
Each teacher is allowed flexibility in the variety of assessment methods that can be used in any one grading period, but department heads review grading policies for consistency and fairness. The methods of assessment for personal growth and progress include quizzes, tests, homework assignments, projects, and participation. Standardized testing every year also helps advisors and parents assess cadet progress. Middle School and ninth grade cadets take the ERB, tenth graders take the PSAT, and eleventh and twelfth graders take the SAT.
"It's going great here. It's all a learning experience. It's a challenge living (at) school constantly, but I'm taking advantage of what they have here. I needed extra help, and I'm getting it here. It's a family."
