Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) Accreditation

During the last year and a half, the entire ANA school community was involved in completing a substantial self-study report according to the California Association of Independent Schools (CAIS) guidelines that are “based on 110 standards . . . about every aspect of the school(www.caisca.org).  The end result was a comprehensive 222-page report.

Six volunteers, all of whom are educators with other CAIS/WASC-accredited schools, visited our campus on February 12-15, 2006, to “look into every aspect of the school's programs and operations to assess their effectiveness in fulfilling the school's stated purposes.  The visiting team’s overall focus lay on our school’s ability to self-monitor, especially with regards to the accomplishment of the Academy’s mission statement.  The members of the committee closely interacted with the cadets, administrators, teachers, and staff for three-and-a-half days to research how closely CAIS and WASC (Western Association of Schools and Colleges) would need to work with our school for the sake of our school’s progress.

Before leaving the Academy, they read a draft of their findings, which included numerous commendations and recommendations for our entire school community.  Moreover, these six individuals will be recommending to both CAIS and WASC a term of accreditation for the Academy.  Both the committee’s final report and the approved term of accreditation will be available on the website when the information becomes available.
