Regarding David Ortiz, Class of 2005, and a heroic incident that occurred in 2003:

"David's actions that day exemplify those values taught in JROTC.  A traumatic accident scene such as this is a stressful situation for even the most seasoned professional; and, David handled it with skill and poise.  His evaluation and treatment of those injured was equal to that of a person at a professional level of skill and knowledge in Emergency Medicine.  His actions were instrumental in saving the life of the driver and providing the best possible chance for survival to the female victim that was ejected from the car.  His actions reflect great credit on himself, his school, and the JROTC program."

Maj. Mike Basista USA (Ret.), Senior Army Instructor for the JROTC
