Message from the Chairman
Mr. Jack Wyatt

Dear Patron,

Jim Collins wrote in his book “Good to Great” that Good is the enemy of Great. We don’t have Great schools because we have Good schools…It is just too easy to settle for Good.

As Army and Navy Academy approaches our Centennial in 2010, we on the Board of Trustees are committed to making Army and Navy Academy a Great military college preparatory high school by having the right leadership, faculty, and staff, and providing the environment and resources necessary to educate and develop young men of good character.

Our performance and results far exceed public schools…Our Cadets learn to be leaders – independent, mature, and self-reliant. Over 90% of Academy graduates attend a four year university or college. Our alumni are leaders in academics, art, business, government, science, sports, technology, theatre, and the military.

During the next few years, the Academy will strengthen and expand its international outreach. Our student Cadets come from communities throughout America and areas around the world like Canada, China, Mexico, the Middle East and Russia. We are generating an international environment of learning that will help our students to become successful in a world of constant change and challenge.

We are reinforcing the customs and traditions we have developed over the past century to help guide and instill the pursuit of our core values of leadership, excellence, honor, responsibility loyalty and compassion.

It takes teamwork to make the Academy Great…faculty, staff, parents, Cadets alumni and trustees working together to successfully meet our educational, financial, social, and technological challenges. Our journey to Greatness will be exciting, fun, and rewarding – We at Army and Navy Academy look forward to the opportunities that the future has for us…and invite you to join our journey.

“After graduation in 1987, I took the values I learned at ANA: honor, courage, and commitment, and dedicated myself in college at the University of California Irvine. After graduation, I joined the Marine Corps and then put the three experiences together and built, what I thought was a very good foundation. What the Marine Corps and the Army and Navy Academy taught me, I was able to apply in life and transformed my career into something I am very proud of today. I would think if you are a boarding student for six years, or even just the four years in high school, and you’re from outside California, you will find that you probably won’t be leaving on too many weekends. You’ll have people coming to visit you instead. As a cadet, you can certainly grow into a fine young man and enjoy everything that Southern California has to offer.
