Do you live locally? If so, our program for day cadets is perfect for families that reside locally and prefer to have their sons live at home. The benefits of the nonresidential/day program carry many of the same advantages as the residential /boarding program. These include, but are not limited to:
- Individualized teacher support after school
- Academic counseling to keep homework on track
- Leadership opportunities
- Involvement in the athletic program
- College counseling to prepare for the SAT and college applications
Here is an idea of what an Upper School cadet experiences on an average day if he is not boarding at the Academy.7 a.m. Nonresidential cadets can arrive early for breakfast.
7:45 a.m. School formation ensures all cadets are dressed in the uniform of the day and ready for school.
8 a.m. Morning classes begin.
11:50 a.m. 2nd Mess (lunch)
12:45 p.m. Afternoon classes begin.
1:30 p.m. Tutorial for grades 7 and 8. Teachers are available in their classrooms for additional instruction and individualized and assistance.
2:15 p.m. Athletics for grades 7 and 8. Tutorial for grades 9-12.
3:15 p.m. Athletics for grades 9-12.
Nonresidential cadets are required to leave campus by 5:00 p.m. after completing the required programs. Lunch is included. Nonresidential cadets can also sign up for weekend excursions and participate in athletics after school and on the weekends.
All cadets follow a structured daily schedule, with little time for distractions. Cadets learn how to improve their study skills, prepare for college and enjoy extracurricular activities.
