Band Performs at Knott's
Thursday April 17th, 2008
Army and Navy Academy’s Atkinson Warrior Band performed at Knott’s Berry Farm on Monday, April 14, 2008, for park guests. This is the Academy band’s 6th public performance this year.
The band entered the park playing “Patriotic Spectacular, marching to the Calico Square stage. The band then performed the hit “Born To Be Wild”, followed by a medley of all the United States military service songs, conducted by the drum major, Julius Yang, of Riverside, California. The performance concluded with the popular Outkast piece, “The Way You Move”. The band exited the performance area marching to “Sousa Celebration.”
Following the performance, band members enjoyed the day at the park. The band members thoroughly enjoyed their day at Knott’s Berry Farm and the opportunity to perform “on the road”.
This is Major Mike Donovan’s first year at Army and Navy Academy, but he has been in music education for 33 years. “I am very pleased with the entire school’s desire to have a good band program, which is essential to a military school. I expect that we will continue to grow in both numbers and quality for the future,” Donovan said.
The Atkinson Warrior Band’s next performances will be during Alumni Weekend at Army and Navy Academy, May 17 & 18, 2008.
