Coaches
Patrick Fanene
Varsity Head Football Coach
Read Bio

Army and Navy Academy has been fortunate to secure the commitment of Patrick Fanene to become Head Varsity Football Coach, replacing Tim Mitchell, who recently resigned.

Coach Fanene brings to the Warrior program a high level of experience as both a player and coach.  As a player, he was a three year standout and a two time All-CIF performer at Carlsbad High School

Coach Fanene earned a full athletic scholarship to play D-1 football for Fresno State, where he played/started as both a defensive and offensive linemen for Coach Pat Hill.  During his final two seasons, he started at center, snapping to consensus All-American and NFL first round draft choice David Carr.  During all four years at Fresno State, he was selected to the All-Academic team in the WAC Conference.

As a Coach, Patrick began by Coaching Pop Warner football as both an assistant and head coach for five years.  He became a part of the Division I Carlsbad High School Football staff for the past four seasons, first serving for two years as an assistant coach on the Varsity under legendary Head Coach Bob McAllister, and for the past two seasons as Freshman Head Coach.

Throughout his time in football, Coach Fanene has built tremendous relationships with High School and College coaches, as well as many NFL players.  Eight players he either played with or coached went on to play in the NFL.  He is eager to tap into those resources to benefit the football program at Army and Navy Academy.

During the day Coach Fanene serves as a Police Officer with the City of Carlsbad with duty assignment to Carlsbad High School as the School Resource Officer.

“As a coach and mentor, I am committed to teaching the game of football and utilizing it to teach life lessons to our players” Fanene said.

“I can’t wait to meet the players and get our season underway.”
