We Salute Butch '55.

With the passing August 1 of Lester "Butch" Cox '55 after a lengthy illness, Army and Navy Academy and the Class of 1955 offer our deepest condolences to the Cox family.

Classmate and friend Jack Jackson traveled to Indio for the services and recounts the impact of Butch on the desert community:

"We arrived in Indio, got things squared away and decided to head to Butch's favorite watering hole, Cactus Jack's. As we sat at the bar next to two gentlemen, my wife Jo overheard one of them mention Butch. They had been associated with him through golf, the Elks Club and, of course, Cactus Jack's. We learned how much he was liked and respected and about the great number of friends he had. Nearly everyone in the place knew him. When we  returned the next day for breakfast, Butch was again the topic of conversation among the staff.

It is hard to believe that one person could gain that much recognition and be loved and respected as much as Butch was throughout Indio. That was Butch."
